Allison Chinchar is a meteorologist for CNN and HLN. She often appears on CNN's HLN Weekend Express and CNN International's HLN New Day Weekend. Before joining CNN in June 2015she worked for numerous local radio stations which included those in Atlanta and Nashville. She's covered wildfires, floods, hurricanes as well as the occurrence of blizzards. In 2019, she was nominated for an Emmy award for covering Hurricane Dorian within the Bahamas. She also has covered the Super Tornado Outbreak of April 2011, when more than 350 tornadoes hit across the Southeastern United States in just four days, with over 200 occurring on April 27th, alone. Her experience being an ecoscientist has allowed her to cover stories on climate change and natural disasters such the eruption of volcanoes, earthquakes, and so on. Chinchar received a Master of Science degree in Atmospheric Science from The Ohio State University. Chinchar is also a part of the American Meteorological Society, the Canadian Meteorological and Oceanographic Society as well as the National Weather Association, and the International Association of Broadcast Meteorology.
